In order to be ready, people and organizations have to be willing and able. But what does it really mean to be willing? And what does it mean to be able?
The Dawn Chorus Group is one of the core developers of the R=MC2 model, which articulates that readiness involves the specific skills and conditions to make a particular change happen, the general organization conditions, and the set of motivations that contribute to whether a change is implemented.
To date, R=MC2 and related measures have been used in over 25 settings: from schools to community coalitions, to military bases to community colleges. The framework is highly portable and can be applied to nearly all implementation settings and change efforts.

We designed The Brief Readiness Thinking Tool to provide a high-level overview of what readiness is and how it can be used in consultative settings. Stakeholders across cultures have successfully used it to orient people to what it takes to implement with quality. The BRTT is available under a creative commons license, so feel free to download, remix, and use however you’d like. We seen some people use it for slides, and some people go right ahead and make it a scale. Have fun!
